How DPD Works

DPD works with your payment processor to automatically sell your downloads

DPD replaces "buy now" and "add-to-cart" buttons generated by PayPal and other processors and provides you with new button code. These new buttons pay you directly through your payment processor of choice, but first run your transaction through the DPD system to add advanced features and additional security information. Once your customer pays you, DPD uses this additional info to generate a unique, customer specific download URL to deliver your products.

Using DPD buttons on your web site allows you to use all the advanced features of DPD like your own built-in affiliate system, multi-item checkout, and advanced options like PDF watermarking, coupon and discount codes, and advanced download security rules.

Selling With DPD:

DPD requires no programming knowledge to use—simply cut and paste our button code to your web site! You don't even need to log in to PayPal to set up and sell products. DPD handles all of the hard stuff so you can focus on selling your product.

Step 1:

Customer Clicks your Product Button

Just like with standard processor buttons, when the customer clicks the DPD product button on your web site they are instantly transported to your payment processor.

Step 2:

DPD Adds Additional Sale Information

In a fraction of a second DPD adds additional sale information and passes it along with your customer to the payment processor. The customer doesn't see this step and doesn't even know its happening!

Step 3:

Customer Pays You Directly

DPD forwards your customer to your payment processor. Your customers pay you directly and DPD doesn't touch your money or payment account. Upon completion, the processor sends a payment notification to DPD to prepare a download URL for the buyer.

Step 4:

The Processor Sends your Customers to DPD

Once your customers have paid, your processor forwards the buyer to a unique download URL that DPD sent in Step 2. DPD downloads include advanced security features and can not be shared and are 100% unique, preventing link harvesting and discovery.

Without DPD:

Unmanaged payment buttons and unprotected download URLs cost you money. To enjoy the advanced download security provided by DPD you would have to install complicated scripts and programs that you must then maintain.

Step 1:

Customer Clicks on Processor Button

Using a standard processor button buyers will be sent directly to PayPal, etc. Most processor buttons are susceptible to link manipulation and price adjustment, allowing dishonest buyers to get your product for pennies.

Step 2:

Your Customer Pays You Directly

Your customer pays you directly to your PayPal or other processor account. Once payment is made the processor may direct your customer to a "thank you" page on your web site to download their products.

Step 3:

Your Customer is Sent to an Unprotected Download URL on your Server

Some processors will forward your customers to an unsecured download URL on your web site. This unprotected download URL is the same for every customer, leading to link sharing, posting of download URLs on forums, and more by dishonest buyers.
